Another Pinterest Story........

A couple of weeks ago, I was on Pinterest. That statement right there should tell you what's about to happen.

So, I got all excited, and decided to try a few more recipes to round out my dinner for the night. First up? These sliced baked potatoes.

I though, Wow, these look yummy and not too hard..........

I gathered all my ingredients, washed my taters, and set them out on the baking tray.

I sliced them, according to directions, had the oven preheated, and in they went.
Uh huh. NOT. I seemed to find the ONE link of Pinterest the accidentally had the WRONG cooking temperature. SO, needless to say my potatoes were NOT done on time, and I was very annoyed. So, I didn't take a picture.

Pinterest FAIL

Although, now that I have the "right" link saved, I will actually try this again. Thank goodness our filletes and green salad were good. We ended up putting the potatoes in the micro to soften and ate them that way. The flavor was awesome, just needed to cook longer.

Not to be a glutton for punishment, but I figured if I was going to try one Pinterest recipe for the side dish I ought to do one for the dessert too.

I found this. After I wiped the drool off my desk with the back of my hand, I quickly pinned it to my Dessert board and stopped by the store on my way home from work.

I laid out all my ingredients.......

I added white choco chips because we had some we needed to use up.........

Rolled them up, baked them, cooled them off and served them up. Don't they look delish?

Well, trust me, they WERE! I forgot to pinch the ends together, so we had a wee bit of overflow out the sides but it was all good.
Pinterest SUCCESS!

I actually made these again last week and STILL a big hit. Hint: make 2 batches. They go too fast with only 8 per package of Crescent Rolls.

Made anything good from Pinterest lately?

Big C turns the Big 1-6

Yeah, I am a WEE bit late posting this........ like several months late. Better late than never right?

PB had been on the hunt for a good car for Big C, as his 16th birthday was coming up. After some checking around, he got Big C this cherry red Mustang. PB and I drove up to Bellingham to grab it, brought it home and parked it in the driveway without Big C knowing. When we got it home, it was late, but of course PB and Big C had to take it out for a spin.

Trying to get both of them to look at the camera and smile at the same time is exhausting! This was the best shot.

The next day PB took him to get tabs, change over the title, get insurance and look at extra goodies to add to the interior.

Big C had an ear to ear grin ALL day. He was so excited about his car!

He still had a few months to go before he turned 16, and could take his drivers test. Well, his birthday FINALLY came around, and after a party at his mom's house, cake, presents, food, family, blah blah blah....

This was the best one out of 5 shots. Big C did not want to smile for the camera........

Mmmm. Cake.

Lil C and Big C
They were being such ham bones for this shot. They were trying to be all tough....... all I see are handsome young men.

I put together a collage of some baseball photos I had taken of Big C over the past year. His mom took it around to all the coaches and players on his team and got them to sign it. She surprised him with it on his birthday!

Here are all the kids from the party. Friends and family.

You should have seen the out takes......

After a few calls, an appointment was set for 07/16/12. Big C and PB headed out to the DMV. Here they are impatiently waiting for Big C's number to be called.

Here he is, getting his photo taken. Then someone from behind the counter yelled at PB for taking this picture.

But it was all worth it. To see this HUGE (heavy sarcasm here) smile from one very excited boy who is now a member of the driving club!

Congrats Big C! Now drive carefully!

UBA Award #2

What a week.

There have been some issues between Lil C and HeeHaw, something which I can not share. Oh how I would like to....... but alas, I can't. Needless to say it has been an emotionally draining 7 days.

I thought it was time to bring back the U.B.A. Remember this?

Well, in the second installment, who else could the honor be bestowed upon? None other than HeeHaw himself!

In all fairness, it must be shared as to why HeeHaw was honored. I am sure I am not alone in thinking that he deserves this award EVERY DAY, however in light of the recent events, in no particular order, here are the points that lead to the nomination:
1.  For once again, believing that I only tell my children stories/lies/mis-interpreted facts to make myself look like a better parent in any given situation.

2. For bringing Doodle in on a conversation about what happened between HeeHaw and Lil C. A conversation she should have NEVER been a part of. A conversation that lead her to look at me, her mother, with utter disgust, contempt and disdain. Like if she could freeze me with a look, I would be encased in ice right now.
3. For twisting, morphing, re-creating said events inside his little head so completely that he comes out smelling of roses.

4. For wearing the "cap of Christianity" whenever it suits him. Sometimes, it's on all day. But most of the time? On in the morning but taken off so quickly it's like it was never there.

So HeeHaw! Come on down! Take your bow! 'Cause this U.B.A. Award is JUST for you! I have battened down the hatches, put my big girl panties on, and have proudly secured my poncho. Why you ask? For the shit storm that is heading my way!

Summer Water Fun

A few weeks ago, on a REALLY sunny day here in the Pacific NW, I decided to pack up the clan and we headed to a nice little spot called Deception Pass.

For those of you that live around here, you know it's beauty. For those of you that don't, you can check it out HERE.

None of these links do justice to the actual beauty, but you get the idea. (Thank you Google and Wikipedia!)

Getting my kids, PB and his kid out of the house is like herding pissed off cats. Seriously. Nobody is EVER ready to go at the same time. I end up doing most of the loading of gear to the car and the kids all kind of stand around. AWESOME.

We FINALLY leave, and we head out. Of course, since the sun is out here in Western WA, everyone and their clan is ALSO out at the beach. UGH. We find places to park, and haul all of our crap to the sand.

We collapse in to our chairs, and as we get slightly fried from the 80+ degrees outside, I grab some great picks of the kids.
